HIRAX: 1984 Demo To Be Released As Seven-Inch Single
March 12, 2008After being on hiatus for a couple of years, Sweden's Stormbringer Records is back with another release lined up for 2008 — a seven-inch single from legendary U.S. thrashers HIRAX. This will contain the very first recording the band did, the classic 1984 demo recording. The seven-inch will be on colored vinyl, come with an insert with photos from original HIRAX guitarist Bob Savage's own collection and include liner notes written by Laurent "I Love Atheist" Ramadier from Snakepit magazine.
HIRAX is currently in pre-production for a new album, entitled "El Rostro de la Muerte". Songtitles set to appear on the CD include "Baptized By Fire", "Death Militia", "Battle Of The North", and re-recorded versions of "Blind Faith" and "Broken Neck".
The production will be top-notch with John Haddad back at the helm again. He also handled the duties for "Assassins Of War" and "Chaos And Brutality" EPs. There will also be a new HIRAX DVD, "Thrash And Destroy", including the band's entire performance at the Keep It True Festival IX in November 2007.
Fan-filmed video footage of HIRAX performing the song "Hostile Territory" on November 3, 2007 at the Keep It True IX festival in Dittigheim, Germany can be viewed below.
The California thrashers played two successful shows in September in Germany and France with new second lead guitarist Tim Thomas, formerly of STEEL PROPHET and AGENT STEEL, as well as returning drummer Fabricio Ravelli.
HIRAX's forthcoming album will feature artwork by Ed Repka, the undisputed king of thrash metal art. A 10-country European tour is also in the works for May 2008, including a headlining appearance at Long Live Metal!!! festival Chaptire 2 in Wattrelos, France.
